The Couragemakers Podcast | Encouragement, Inspiration & Rebel Rousing for Mission Driven Doers, Makers & Shakers |

Couragemakers is the weekly podcast for creative and multi-passionate women. Because building the life you want and putting stuff in the world takes a boatload of courage, but you don’t have to do it alone. Couragemakers is designed to encourage and rebel-rouse mission-driven doers, makers and world-shakers to spark a movement of women who are choosing themselves. Meg chats to unconventional couragemakers all over the world who share their stories, their advice and their dreams as we have honest conversations about everyday courage, living a wholehearted life and dream chasing. We’ve figured out what we don’t want in life, now we’re figuring out what we do want. And we talk about the things that make us feel on fire as well as the monsters that hide under our beds. Couragemakers is brought to you by Meg Kissack of The Rebel Rousers. Because everything changes when you believe you matter. Let’s shake things up together. Warning: This podcast contains courage, vulnerability and a desire to leave the world a brighter place than how we found it.

Hello Couragemakers and welcome to the last episode of 2016!

Next week we’re taking a short one week break for the holidays, and then we’re back on January 2nd with a corker on an episode to start the new year on a great foot!

This week I have a fascinating interview for you, with forensic psychologist Julia Langley. Julia is from the UK and in her spare time, can be often found on her sofa watching YouTube videos to distract her from the impending doom of handing in her PhD thesis, doing the occasional yoga class, and writing

In this episode, Julia shares her journey to becoming a forensic psychologist, by the way of studying drama, running workshops in a women’s prison and being a support worker for people who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.

We really get into how to look after yourself when you spend a lot of time supporting other people, tangible ways to avoid burnout and finding a lifestyle that makes you thrive and how tricky and scary it is redefining relationships in our personal lives to they work for us.

We really dive deep into the topic of boundaries and creating honest and healthy relationships in our lives, the parallels between how we help other people and our own lives, and just how important it is to figure out what kind of a person we are.

I loved chatting about the crossovers between mental health and the arts, how multipotentiality is changing the way we think about the future and practical ways we can top ourselves up after giving so much of ourselves to the world.

This is a fantastic episode if a lot of your life is dedicated to helping people, if you have a tendency to put other people’s needs in front of your own and if you struggle with imposter syndrome. Julia shares great advice for establishing boundaries with the people in your life, and the scary issue of redefining relationships when they’re feeling toxic.

I absolutely love this episode and how open and honest Julia is about her journey. I love how she shares her learning curves along the way and how she is so open about her own challenges when it comes to feeling responsibility over other people. Julie’s journey is really inspiring and it’s so great to hear how she’s balanced putting great shit into the world while looking after herself at the same time.

I know this episode is a much needed one, so enjoy the show!

Hello lovely Couragemakers!

This week I’m speaking with the wonderful Simi Botic. Simi is  a corporate attorney-turned-health-coach and she helps women nourish and nurture their bodies and lives, so they can live FULLY. Simi is obsessed with coffee, beach vacations, and the 90s and is passionate about helping women get un-stuck!

In this episode, Simi shares her journey, from being a corporate attorney believing she was made to be a box ticker, to finding work that lights her up and brings to much joy to her life. I loved getting to know more about the work Simi does, and chatting about how to give yourself validation and appreciation if you work for yourself.

In today’s show, we really dive deep into choosing yourself and giving yourself permission to explore the things that make you happy.  We have so many great conversations about saying no, being brave and reevaluating where you’re at and following the things that you think might make you happy even if you have no idea where they’ll lead.

We also explore importance of boredom, the glorification of busyness and how giving ourselves space to get to know ourselves is one of the most important things we can do.

This episode is such a powerful reminder that we have so much to offer the world in terms of our ideas, our passions and our insights and our lives would change so much if we started saying yes to ourselves.

This is a fantastic, practical episode and Simi has so much great advice for anyone struggling with how to say now and  people who struggle with being a people pleaser.

I loved chatting to Simi and our conversation put a massive smile on my face. Simi is so honest and her story is so relatable and I know you’re going to get a lot from today’s episode.

Enjoy the show!

Happy Monday Couragemakers!

I am so excited to share with you this week’s episode of Couragemakers!

For this week’s episode, I’m speaking to the wonderful Jenipher Lyn.

Jenipher a self-taught artist who is on a mission to save the world one doodle at a time. She who believes the more genuine encouragement in the world, the better and her goal in life is to inspire as many girls and women that they are not alone. Jenipher can be found drawing and eating cupcakes in the middle of Florida with husband and giant cat, Baby. I found Jenipher through her doodles and am so happy to get to know Jenipher as a person.

In this episode, Jenipher shares the story behind her art, how being a writer or an artist isn’t how many people make it look online and how struggling with anxiety, depression and loneliness has influenced her life and her mission. Oh, and also what her ideal weird superpower would be.

We really dive into the importance of imperfection, and how the online world sometimes deceives us, the struggles we often face as creative women and how we all need more mess, encouragement and cookies in our lives.

Jenipher shares fantastic advice for anyone going through a hard time, gives a great insight into how her creative process has changed along the way and how she protects her own sanity as a highly sensitive person.

Jenipher is wonderful and I absolutely loved every bit of our conversation. We had such a good laugh and her approach to life is simply contagious. This episode is full of so much hope, joy and truth and I know you’re going to love this episode!

Enjoy the show!
